Later this week I will be making my way to Orlando for my 5th trip to Orlando Film Festival. This year will be a little different because it is my first one working for the festival in an official capacity. I started this year off as the Director of Social Media & Submissions but my tireless work got me bumped up to Associate Director. I am in charge of a wide array of different aspects and I am incredibly proud of the event we put together this year. It is going to be an insane 2 weeks starting on October 10th. I am attending New York Comic Con on behalf of WAMG Thursday & Friday followed by a friend’s wedding Saturday. About 8 hours after I get home, I have to fly out to Orlando to start prepping for OFF. Sunday night will be our first ever OFF tweetup at Universal Studios Horror Nights to promote the festival’s Horror Night. Next Wednesday kicks off the fest and 5 days full of movies, parties and a lot of work/fun. I also have a very special surprise planned for this year’s fest that will truly make it an event to remember. To see how the fest goes and what the big surprise will be, keep checking the OFF Twitter account (@OrlandoFilmFest) for updates since I tend to spend most of my time on there when online now!

You may have noticed I am pretty crappy at long form updates. What can I say, I am more of a Twitter kind of guy. Since the last update, a lot has happened. That big option deal for FUNNY DEVILS didn’t pan out but things are looking hopeful with a new producer who really believes in the project. I finished my final draft of FRESHMAN 15 and am currently pushing it to whoever wants to read the next great teen comedy. I am now the Director of Social Media & Submissions for the Orlando Film Festival. And in the most recent news, I have officially rereleased STUCK LIKE CHUCK. It is once again available to watch for FREE, along with over 8+ hours of bonus features. You can check it all out at StuckLikeChuck.com & read my much more detailed blog post over there as well!

In all of the excitement, I totally forgot to post an update about this on here but I made my second feature film, it premiered at the Orlando Film Festival last week, it is available to watch for FREE right now & it won me my 2nd Indie Spirit Award at OFF. Believe it or not, this all started less than 2 months ago when Dan Springen asked me to put together a promo video for this year’s festival. Going through all the footage I shot last year, I realized I had so much more than a 30 second spot. What I cut together was a fun & honest look at the film festival experience from the point of views of myself, Nic Baisley from FilmSnobbery, filmmakers Sean Fallon & Charlotte Barrett of VIRGIN ALEXANDER, Dan Springen and several other people in attendance. Head over to NJgetOFF.com right now to find out more about the film & watch it yourself!

A Deal With The Devil

You may have noticed some recent changes to the screenwriter section on this site. Although, if my analytics are correct, you probably haven’t so you should keep reading….
A few days ago, I officially signed my very first option agreement for a little script I wrote called FUNNY DEVILS. For those not familiar, FUNNY DEVILS is a horror-comedy loosely based on the legend of the Jersey Devil. The script is about an improv comedy troupe that must use their knowledge of horror movies to survive when their car is run off the road in the NJ Pine Barrens. It is a fun, over-the-top satire of films like WRONG TURN and THE HILLS HAVE EYES, as well as the entire 80s Slasher genre.
Some recent rewrites have elevated the script to a whole new level of awesomeness and that’s where director Nick Peterson came in. He has attached himself to direct the film and is currently sending the finished script out to talent & producers. We are both very passionate about this project & strongly believe it will gather interest pretty quickly. I will keep you updated as best I can throughout the process. If all goes well, horror fans will be making a trip to the Pine Barrens in 2013!

Some of you may have seen my somewhat cryptic tweets and Facebook posts lately referring to August 17th. Well it’s about time I finally announce what happens in 2 weeks. Drumroll please…

On August 17th, I will be releasing STUCK LIKE CHUCK for FREE. FREE streaming. FREE download. AD-FREE! There are a lot of factors that led up to this decision but I won’t go into that just yet. For now, all you need to know is that if you haven’t had a chance to check out the film yet, you will be able to in just 2 short weeks!

Starting on the 17th, the film will be posted at StuckLikeChuck.com but the player is embeddable so hopefully it will be all over the place by the end of the day. Since no future DVD or Blu-Ray release is planned, nearly 10 hours of bonus features will also be made available to anyone who donates $1 or more at the official site.More details coming soon.

To celebrate the release of the film, I will be live-tweeting the film at 8 PM EST, 10 PM EST & Midnight EST. This has been a long time coming. In fact, August 17th, 2011 marks the 4 year anniversary of when I first came up with the idea for the film. This is huge news for me and hopefully you are excited as well.

To start things off, here is a brand new teaser trailer for the film…

I recently sat down with a buddy of mine, MR. DAN FOGLER (Balls of Fury, Fanboys, Hysterical Psycho) for an in depth interview into his new projects. The videos were posted in two separate articles on WE ARE MOVIE GEEKS. You can check them out below!

Part 1

Part 2

Here’s a taste of what it’s like to interview Dan.

I have always loved novelty t-shirts and I’ve been making my own for a few years. Nearly every shirt featured in STUCK LIKE CHUCK was an original design I created for the film. I decided it was about time I started making some money off this. Ladies and gentlemen, I am pleased to announce the launch of my very own novelty t-shirt shop. Submission Fees

Earlier this week I did some research on screenwriting festivals for FRESHMAN 15 and FUNNY DEVILS. What I found shocked me so I wrote a little (2 page) article about it to post on FilmSnobbery.com. You can check it out right HERE. After the article, I ended up spending a full paycheck on submitting to festivals anyway. If you’d like to suggest any festivals actually worth their submission fee, let me know!
